What can I say. I am an Norwegian married to a philipina for 10 years now. We lived in US but moved to Norway last september. For 6 years I worked together with philipinos and learned to know who they are. Nurses and doctors with a good education from manila sitting there and typing in data on a computer.

They lived in US and closer to heaven they could not come. For a long time I could not really understand why. When I told them that Norway has been rated by UN as the best place to live , 6 years in a row, they looked at me like I was kidding.

I have seen in some other forums nurses who wanted to go here. If you can live in a cold country I will wish you welcome, nurses, doctors, seamens and mechanicle engineers.

BUT learn the language first and leanr about Norway. There is many good web sites about this.

Just to mention some. Yes to all nurses and doctors, you need to take the licensens. The difference between Norway and US for a dentist is like day and night. One year course at the university in Bergen and you are a dentist.
For all medical personell look at these websites:

www.safh.no
www.nokut.no
Here is information about how to become licensed medical personell in Norway.

Ok, then let me briefly talk about taxes. Taxes on income in Norway is similar like US. But you dont have to think about medical insurance, retirement, disabillity and so on. everything is included. If you should include this in your US taxes you would be paying more than 50% of your income.

There is no tutition fees at university. All public education is free. Student get also grants to pay for cost of living.

This country still have a very Clean environment and I think it is a good country to live in. The important think is to know where you are going and understand this is a cold country. But it is not as cold as people think.

Investigate , take a look and you might enjoy it.

Good luck
